Multiple sclerosis, professionally multiple sclerosis, is the most common non-traumatic cause of disability in young adults aged 20 to 40. It is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks its own nervous system. It can have very diverse manifestations and its development is unpredictable.

Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory disease that attacks the brain, spinal cord and optic nerve sheaths. In this disease, the immune system begins to attack its own cells, specifically myelin, which forms a sheath around the protrusions, that is, around the nerve fibers that connect the nerve cells to each other. Myelin normally protects nerve fibers and helps them spread electrical information through the nervous system, thereby controlling the functions of the whole  tela.
